The Government has announced that from 13 March to 30 September 2020, GPs are able to provide bulk billed Telehealth consultations to all patients with a Medicare card.

All appointments at our practice need be made as a Telehealth consultation initially. The doctor will decide if a face to face appointment is required after your Telehealth consultation.

Did you know that we can also complete your GP Management Plan, Care Plan or Mental Health Plan via a Telehealth consultation?

You can book your Telehealth consultation by phoning the practice or by booking online.

feel-sick-stay-home.jpg

I feel sick, or someone I care for feels sick. What do I do?

You, or the person you’re caring for, should stay home. Don’t go to work or school. This is important to stop the spread of any illness. Get plenty of rest and drink lots of water.

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE: If you have travelled overseas in the past 14 days and you have symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat or breathlessness, OR had recent close contact with a confirmed case of Covid-19, please do not make an appointment at our practice.

Instead, if you are a regular patient of our practice, you can phone us to book a bulk billed telephone consult with your regular GP (further conditions apply) OR you can attend the Minor Injury and Illness Clinic (at Caloundra Hospital) which is now solely a Fever Clinic for Covid-19 screening.

**Testing for Covid-19 is only available to those people who have been overseas in the past 14 days and have fever or respiratory symptoms OR had recent close contact (previous 14 days) with a confirmed case of COVID-19.

**Patients who present with cold and flu-like symptoms, who do not meet the above criteria, will NOT be tested for COVID-19.

Accredited_byQPA_web_893_x_425px.jpg

Congratulations to our amazing staff and doctors who helped us achieve another successful Accreditation with QPA.

But what does this mean for our patients?

A practice with accreditation has been assessed as meeting standards that define best practice in patient care by a team of independent, experienced, general practice professionals. An accredited practice’s staff have participated in interviews, demonstrating their knowledge and commitment to quality, and to your care. The facilities of an accredited practice have been examined so that you, the patient, can rest assured that your practice has all the equipment and systems it needs to provide you with safe, optimal care.

Cosmetic Anti-Wrinkle Injections

Anti-wrinkle injections help reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles. They work by relaxing the muscles that cause lines, and can be used to treat a variety of areas such as:

  • Frown lines – between the eyebrows
  • Crow’s feet – the corner of the eyes
  • Forehead lines – horizontal lines between the brows & hairline

We use Dysport for Anti-Wrinkle injections.  Dysport, like Botox, is a form of botulinum toxin injected into the skin to temporarily relax the muscles.

Anti-wrinkle injections, depending on the dose and location, last a duration of 3-4 months.

Cost varies depending on the area being treated and how much product is needed.

Anti-Wrinkle Injections start from $240 for one standard area, $395 for two standard areas and $495 for three standard areas.  Extra units are $5 per unit + GST.

Dermal Fillers start from $210 + GST.

A FREE cosmetic assessment appointment is undertaken first to understand your goals and the best option to achieve those goals.  If anti-wrinkle injections are decided to be the best option, the doctor will advise you of the cost and how many units is required for your treatment.

A second appointment will be booked for your treatment at a time and date convenient to you.  All costs are payable on the day of treatment.  Medicare does not offer a rebate for cosmetic procedures.

You can book a FREE cosmetic assessment with Dr Leticia Figueiredo online or phone our receptionists for more information.

National-Cervical-Screening-Program-Changes-1024x683.jpg

The National Cervical Screening Program is changing. From 1 May 2017:

  • women will be invited when they are due to participate via the National Cancer Screening Register
  • the Pap smear will be replaced with the more accurate Cervical Screening Test
  • the time between tests will change from two to five years
  • the age at which screening starts will increase from 18 years to 25 years
  • women aged 70 to 74 years will be invited to have an exit test.

Women of any age who have symptoms such as unusual bleeding, discharge and pain should see their Health Care Professional immediately.

HPV-vaccinated women still require cervical screening as the HPV vaccine does not protect against all the types of HPV that cause cervical cancer.

A 2015-16 Australian Government Budget commitment provides funding to implement these recommended changes to the National Cervical Screening Program and establish a National Cancer Screening Register to support the new program.

The new program will commence from 1 May 2017 when the new Cervical Screening Test will become available on the Medicare Benefits Schedule. Until this time, women aged between 18 and 69 years who have ever been sexually active, should continue to have Pap test when due.
